The Christian Advocate
Editor: Ashbel Green, 1823-1834
In his autobiography, Dr. Green states "But on my arrival in the city (Philadelphia), I was urgently solicited by my clerical brethren to become the editor of a monthly publication, entitled The Presbyterian. I consented reluctantly, as the Presbyterian was in a declining state, and on condition that the title should be changed from a sectarian to a catholic form. Thus I became the editor of the Christian Advocate, which I conducted for twelve successive years."
