Van Doren, William Howard 1810-1882

From "A Manual of the Reformed Church in America (Formerly Reformed Protestant Dutch Church) 1628-1922" - 1922 - By Charles E. Corwin

William Howard Van Doren was one of a few great expository preachers. His thorough training in Hebrew and Greek languages, history, theology, culture of bible times and his extensive travels in the land of the Book are reflected in his writings.

Van Doren's method and message are unique, and he has done very well what every expositor of the Word would like to do. His writings are a rare combination of biblical scholarship and homiletic suggestiveness.

This renowned American clergyman was the author of numerous books of which the following are regarded as classics in expositional literature: Suggestive Commentary of Luke and Suggestive Commentary of John.
